Patrol deputies are the front line of public safety in Barbour County. They answer calls for service, respond to emergencies and traffic crashes, enforce state law on county roads, and keep a visible presence in Clayton, Clio, Louisville, and the rural communities in between.

When a case needs more than an initial report, investigators take it from there. They follow up on burglaries, thefts, fraud, assaults, and other felony offenses, gather evidence, interview witnesses, and work with the District Attorney’s Office to bring cases to court.

The Sheriff’s Office registers and monitors sex offenders who live, work, or attend school in Barbour County, as required by the Alabama Sex Offender Registration and Community Notification Act.
The Sheriff’s Office issues Alabama pistol permits to eligible Barbour County residents. Every application is subject to a background check.
Deputies serve civil papers issued by the courts, including summonses, subpoenas, writs, and protection orders, and provide security for the courthouse and courtrooms.
