Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get a pistol permit?

New applicants can download the application from our Pistol Permits page, fill it out, and bring it in person to the Sheriff's Office. Barbour County residents who meet the eligibility rules can renew online through the county's permit portal. Every application is subject to a background check. Questions? Call 334-775-3434.

How do video visits work?

The Barbour County Jail offers remote video visits through Pay Tel's Let's Visit! system, so you can see and speak with your loved one from your phone, tablet or computer. Visits can be scheduled for the same day or in advance.

  1. Download the Pay Tel Connect app or go to paytelconnect.com and create a Pay Tel account.
  2. Your loved one sends you a contact request through inteleVISIT; you'll get a text message with a link to finish setup.
  3. Once you're approved, schedule a visit in the app — or your loved one can send you a visit request.
